MGM+ has revealed a November 2nd premiere date for “Robin Hood,” a reimagining of the legend produced by Lionsgate TV.
The cast includes Jack Patten as Robin, Lauren McQueen as Marian, Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine.
The project is dubbed a romantic adventure and modern take on the story with “historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian.”
The story unfolds in the wake of the Norman invasion of England. Rob (Patten) is a Saxon forester’s son while Marian (McQueen) is the daughter of a Norman lord.
The pair fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land.
John Glenn serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Jonathan English. The ten-episode series launches with a special two-episode premiere on November 2nd with a weekly rollout through to December 28th.
