It’s time to lean in – or should we say, jean in – to the boho revival, and pull out your favourite flared denim. First favoured way back in the 1960s, and then made popular by the likes of Jane Birkin and Cher, you only have to look at the A/W 2025 catwalks to see that interest in the classic jean shape is well and truly thriving.
Thanks to the designers like Chloé, Celine and Gucci, who have taken the original silhouette and added reimagined details like button-up sides (seen on Sienna Miller) and luxe fabrics, flares have become a versatile wardrobe addition.
But truly, our heart will always remain with our trusty denim, and a pair of flared jeans. Whether you’re heading to the office or out for a weekend walk – or maybe it’s an evening on the dancefloor, Studio 54 style – we’ve got the style inspo for you.
Everyone’s clicking on…With clogs

In case you didn’t know, clogs are back! The block chunky heel adds a level of polish to any outfit, but is comfy enough to wear all day long, while blue denim and a white shirt is a failsafe combo. A classic outfit which transcends trends or seasons, imo.

They’ve been everywhere this summer, and the flip flop is showing no sign of stopping. Keep them on hand for warmer autumn days, and really show off your fashion credentials by pairing them with lace details and silver jewellery – two of the coming season’s biggest trends.

It’s true that flares often require a bit of added height, to let the silhouette of the jean leg live out its true potential. So keep things classic with a heeled black leather boot – an equally versatile investment piece to have in your wardrobe. Bonus points for the leopard print – another 1970s style staple.

You might remember a viral moment from Chloé’s 2024 A/W runway collection show, where basically every person sat in the front row was wearing a pair of cork wedges with black crossover straps. Inevitably, we then all wanted a pair of cork wedges with black crossover straps. Team them with your widest leg flares and a simple top for an easy win outfit.

Tick off all your autumn trends at once by pairing a monochrome outfit – in this case, a patent leather oversized jacket with XXL wide leg flares – and a pair of suede boots. While not the most puddle-friendly choice, adding a new texture creates depth within an outfit, even when you can *juuuust* see the toe poking out from beneath the trousers.

If you want to dress down your flares, you totally can – just opt for something with a bit of a chunky sole, so the bottom of your jeans aren’t dragging on the floor (although having said that, oversized hems have been everywhere this summer and can still look great.) This is a great grabbing-coffee-on-a-sunday-morning ‘fit.
