Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown had some fun in a recent visit to his old high school.
Brown faced off against the school’s principal in a one-on-one matchup, initially getting the ball stripped on his first possession. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP fared much better on his second opportunity, driving into the lane and throwing down a one-handed dunk over the administrator.
Before Brown’s encouraging freshman season with the California Golden Bears and impressive tenure with the Boston Celtics, he first generated attention for his skills on the court at Wheeler High School.
He averaged 28.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game during his senior year with the Wildcats in 2015, leading them to a 30-2 overall record to go along with a 6A state title.
Brown’s efforts helped him become the No. 4 prospect in the country as part of the 2015 recruiting class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
The four-time All-Star has been visiting multiple former schools during the offseason. He also took a trip to his other alma mater, Lilburn Middle School, to speak to students on Wednesday (h/t Justin Quinn of Celtics Wire).
While the Celtics couldn’t capture a second consecutive championship during the 2024-25 season, Brown still performed at a high level. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and a career-high 4.5 assists per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from three-point territory.
Brown underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee at the end of the season after playing through a partially torn right meniscus to close out the year. He’s expected to be available at the start of training camp.
His athleticism didn’t seem hampered by the procedure in his trip to Wheeler, though.
