Ons Jabeur is to take a break from tennis after a suffering injury setbacks for the last two years.

The two-time former Wimbledon finalist has found it hard to rediscover her form after suffering a huge amount of injury setbacks.

Now Jabeur has decided to take a step back away from the game as she looks to heal and recover from a brutal last couple of years.

Announcing the news on social media, Jabeur said she will continue to share this journey with her fans, “For the past two years, I’ve been pushing myself so hard, fighting through injuries and facing many other challenges,” Jabeur stated on social media.

“But deep down, I haven’t truly felt happy on the court for some time now. Tennis is such a beautiful sport. But right now, I feel it’s time to take a step back and finally put myself first: to breathe, to heal, and to rediscover the joy of simply living.

“Thank you to all my fans for understanding. You support and love mean the world to me. I carry it with me always. Even while I’m away from the court, I’ll continue to stay close and connected in different ways, and share this journey with you all.”

While this may come as sad news to many, there is one positive about the announcement: Ons Jabeur has no plans of retiring any time soon.

At 30 years of age, Jabeur just sees this as a time to refresh her body and mind as she wants to continue to enjoy the fruits of tennis’ labour.

Going forward Jabeur will be back in the pursuit of chasing her first career Grand Slam title.
