That is the question on NRL fans’ lips after the Sea Eagles fullback moved the best he has in recent memory as he tortured the Dragons on Saturday evening in his side’s 40-24 win.

Injuries have restricted Trbojevic to only 55 games in the four seasons since his 2021 Dally M Medal win.

He has been switched to centre on multiple occasions before getting the No. 1 jersey back in Round 23 against the Raiders.

And many felt he would never quite recapture his form of 2021, with his explosiveness not on display in 2025.

However, in recent weeks, Trbojevic has slowly been turning up the intensity, with his trademark speed and agility creeping back into his game.

And on Saturday, it was like watching the Trbojevic of old as he tore the Red V to shreds.

“He looks like he is back to his best,” Braith Anasta exclaimed in Fox Sports commentary.

Cooper Cronk added: “He looks fit, fast and moving better than he has for the majority of the year. 15 runs in a half is pretty impressive.

“That was Tommy of old.”

While new Perth Bears coach Mal Meninga added: “Best player on the field by a long way. You can see how much he wants it.”

Trbojevic was huge, setting up one try, almost scoring another and having a hand in almost everything.

The 28-year-old also had a game-high 28 runs for 273m, made seven tackle breaks and made two line breaks.

Tom Trbojevic to take a hefty pay cut

Trbojevic has one year left on his $1.1m contract, and it is almost certain he will take a large pay cut to stay at Manly.

But the fullback doesn’t mind, admitting earlier this week that he hasn’t lived up to his hefty price tag.

“I’ll sit down at the end of the year and work all that out. I’m not really too focused on it,” Trbojevic said.

“I understand I’m not going to be paid the same amount that I’m worth now.”

However, if Trbojevic can stay fit and produce performances like he did on Saturday, he could go from overpaid to a bargain.

It is understood his new contract will be around $750,000 a season.
