PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Through two rounds at Pebble Beach Resorts, the Mississippi State Bulldogs sit in seventh place at the Carmel Cup. On top of the Bulldog scorecard is junior Avery Weed, who enters the final round at 4-under par.
Weed shot a 2-under round in the second round of the Carmel Cup, the third-best round of any golfer on Saturday. She is just one of three golfers to finish under-par in both the first and second round.
Weed carded a team-leading seven birdies in round two. She will enter the final round tied for second trailing Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos by one stroke.
Pebble Beach has proved tough for the field this week, as seven of the eight teams have finished over par in the first two rounds. Texas A&M is the outlier at the top of the leaderboard, as they lead the field at 9-under through two rounds.
As a team, the Bulldogs sit at 24-over par entering the final round tomorrow, August 31. Live scoring for the Carmel Cup is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
