Nestory Irankunda has continued to turn heads overseas, this time scoring an incredible free kick to save points for Watford in their 2-2 draw against Southampton.

The talented Australian teenager, who made his debut for the Socceroos last year, belted home an “outrageous” equaliser on Sunday morning (AEST) for his new club.

Irankunda had already scored from a set piece once this season for the Hornets, but this time stood up at a crucial moment to salvage a result.

Irakunda’s stunning effort received plenty of positive reaction on social media in what was the first free kick goal in front of “The Rookery” at the club’s home ground of Vicarage Road since Almen Abdi during the 2016 season.

“I’ve never seen a player who can strike the ball like Nestory Irankunda, at any level, anywhere,” Sydney Morning Herald football journalist Vince Rugari said via X.

“The reverse camera angle just shows you what a goal that is – and it’s legit routine stuff for this kid. Unbelievable.”
