AVO Behavioral Health has merged with the Center for Renewed Minds and now operates a psychological testing center in Jackson Township.

The business will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony in coordination with the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 25 at 4105 Holiday St. NW — the former Center for Renewed Minds.

“The Center for Renewed Minds officially merged with AVO Behavioral Health in May of 2025,” said Rose Mogus, who was formerly with the center and is now the human resources and financial director for AVO, in an email. “This has allowed both businesses to grow and expand services.”

The new AVO Testing and Therapy site will provide psychological testing, including evaluations for autism and ADHD, and occupational therapy and other mental health services.

AVO also has offices at 3745 Whipple Ave. NW and 4433 38th St. NW. Those locations offer treatments for substance use disorders, intensive outpatient programs, and other psychiatric and counseling services.

Legacy Caregivers moves, starts day program

Legacy Caregivers, a developmental disabilities service provider, has moved to a larger location in Jackson Township and launched a day program.

The business will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony in coordination with the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 3. Local officials, organizations and residents are invited to the grand opening from 1 to 3 p.m. at 4845 Fulton Drive NW.

For the past five years, Legacy Caregivers has offered vocational, congregate living and other support services to people with disabilities. New this year, the business has introduced a day program that will provide skill-building, social opportunities and community involvement.

Phoenix Rising Behavioral Healthcare celebrates 20 years

Phoenix Rising Behavioral Healthcare, a behavioral health care agency with offices in Canton and Alliance, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

The nonprofit was founded by a small group of former employees from Nova Behavioral Health, which closed after a counselor was accused of sexually abusing clients and mismanaging money. CEO Lisa Grubbs previously told the Canton Repository that the name was inspired by the Phoenix, a mythical bird that is reborn through fire, and symbolizes how a person “can come out of the ashes and survive terrible things.”

The agency provides mental health and addiction recovery counseling and related services for children, adolescents and adults. Phoenix Rising celebrated its more than 100 employees and 20th anniversary on Aug. 27 at its Canton location.

Timken Co. names new CFO

The Timken Co., a Jackson Township-based global engineered bearings and industrial motion company, has a new chief financial officer — Michael A. Discenza.

The company’s board of trustees appointed Discenza as CFO, vice president and an officer of the company in mid-August. He has been at Timken for 25 years and most recently served as vice president of finance and group controller.

“Mike is an exceptional leader with strong financial expertise, strategic vision and a commitment to operational excellence,” Richard G. Kyle, interim president and CEO, said in a prepared statement. “The board and I are very confident in his ability to lead our global financial organization to drive Timken’s growth and performance.”

Discenza succeeds Philip D. Fracassa, who left to pursue another opportunity, which was not specified in the company announcement.

“We thank Phil for his many years of service and his nearly 12 years of leadership as chief financial officer,” Kyle added. “We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

Sirak Financial Services president among top Ohio professionals

Forbes ranked Gary Sirak, president of the Jackson Township-based Sirak Financial Services, as fifth among Ohio’s top financial security professionals this year.

The annual list produced by the business magazine and SHOOK Research selects the best financial professionals across the nation and in each state. Determinations are based on client retention, community involvement, compliance records and other criteria.

Sirak is the third-generation owner of the family company that was founded in 1957. He has spent more than 40 years helping clients and also travels the country to speak about the book he co-authored with his son, Max: “How to Retire and Not Die: The Three Ps That Will Keep You Young.”

Aultman Home Health earns ‘superior performer’ award

Strategic Healthcare Programs, a performance optimization and data analytics company, has named Aultman Home Health a “superior performer” in overall patient satisfaction for the fourth consecutive year.

The Canton-based health system’s score ranked in the top 20% of all eligible clients for 2024, according to an Aultman news release. The awardees were determined by reviewing the satisfaction score on a client survey for more than 3,200 home health providers.

“SHP recognizes how much hard work is involved in providing excellent patient care, and we are proud to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our top-performing customers through our annual SHPBest award program,” Kevin Vogel, president of Strategic Healthcare Programs, said in a prepared statement. “These organizations care deeply about the patient experience, and they never stop striving to improve every single year.”
