The iPhone 17 series is likely to be revealed at Apple’s big event on September 9 and as it’s just over a week away, leaks are beginning to ramp up. Multiple new leaks show the cases we can expect to adorn all four phones, and they give us even more evidence of the designs to expect on each handset.

If you’re a fan of Apple’s official clear case option, you may not like rumored changes to the design. According to evidence from both leaker Sonny Dickson and Majin Bu, the case may not be entirely clear anymore, meaning it won’t show off your phone’s full design.

The bottom two thirds of the rear of the case now have a white layer blocking the clear case from being entirely see-through. Other changes include the ability to use MagSafe products without the need for a cut-out element, and compatibility with a strap to hold your phone like a lanyard.

Bear in mind that this information is from leaked sources, so it isn’t guaranteed to happen. However, these two leakers found similar information through separate sources, which strongly suggests it may be real. We won’t know for certain until September 9 when Apple announces the iPhone 17 series.

The design of the clear case also shows a larger cutout for the camera on the rear of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max cases. It now continues across the entire width of the rear of the phone.

Leaker Evan Blass has also posted photos of cases leaked from manufacturer UAG that show the same design changes multiple sources have now alluded to. Blass didn’t share specifics on which model was which in a post on social media network X where he called them “iCases.”

Looking at previous leaks, the first case appears to be an iPhone 17 Air with a standard iPhone 17 as the second image. The third and fourth images may be the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, or it may just be the same phone twice over but with differently designs of cases.

If you’re planning to tune into Apple’s event, we likely won’t hear about changes to the case lineup during the announcement. However, Apple often uploads listings for its accessories soon after launching new products, so we may learn all about the changes to the official clear case soon after the event on September 9.
