Sal Stewart didn’t waste any time making himself comfortable in the big leagues.
Stewart, the highest-rated prospect for the Cincinnati Reds, singled in his first at-bat at the MLB level, and then came around to score from first base when the next batter, Ke’Bryan Hayes, doubled to center field.

The Cincinnati Reds officially called up Stewart on Sept. 1 to make his Reds debut after roaring through the club’s farm system all summer.
Sal Stewart, shown in spring training, singled in his first major league at-bat and scored a run on Ke’Bryan Hayes double in the second inning Sept. 1.
Stewart hit .315 in 38 games at Triple-A Louisville. He had 15 doubles and 10 homers there and a 1.023 OPS − and that includes what Stewart described to The Enquirer as a disappointing first week with the Louisville Bats after making the jump from Double-A Chattanooga.
