It has been a frustrating summer transfer window for Celtic.
In a way, many will be glad that the 2025 summer transfer window slams shut on September 1 at 11pm because it seems to have been more of a hindrance to Celtic than a positive.
The build-up to the goalless Glasgow derby on Sunday was overshadowed more by what is happening off the field than on the field of play.
Somehow, the Celtic and Rangers players managed to produce a worse outcome on the pitch because that was an abject showing of the higher order.
But one man who has been pretty vocal about Celtic’s situation this summer is Chris Sutton, and he didn’t hold back pre-match.

Adam Idah was left out of Celtic’s matchday squad that travelled to Ibrox amid speculation that he could be heading to English Championship side, Swansea City.
It had been suggested that a £7 million fee had been agreed with the Welsh side, and Idah had travelled down to Wales to complete his medical before being called back.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football, Sutton wasn’t too impressed with the whole situation and he labelled it a ‘total mess.’
“The Adam Idah situation sort of sums up Celtic in recent times with their transfer policy,” said Sutton. “They seem to be making it up as they go along.
“How can a guy go down to Swansea, and then get pulled back. It’s a pity that the club didn’t make that stance with Kyogo and Kuhn when they eventually ended up selling them.
“I think Brendan said a couple of days ago, he would have liked a replacement in for Nicolas Kuhn, and he was expecting one – the Idah situation is a total mess. That pretty much sums up Celtic from January onwards, whether it’s complacency or incompetence. Whatever it is, something is amiss.
“Poor decision-making, and the responsibility for that? Is it on Brendan Rodgers? He should be putting out a team which is capable of beating Kairat Almaty. I understand that.
“But the bigger issue, for me, has been the lack of recruitment. The lack of bigger and better players coming in to replace the likes of Kyogo and Kuhn.”
Idah out, Kasper Dolberg in at Celtic?
If and when this Idah deal gets done, then it should finally signal that a new striker is imminent, and fans have only been waiting since January.
That’s when Kyogo Furuhashi left, yet it has taken his and possibly Idah’s exit for the next man to come in, and that could be Anderlecht hitman, Kasper Dolberg.
UPDATE: Anderlecht are hoping to bring in another striker before allowing Celtic target Kasper Dolberg to leave, after receiving bad injury news yesterday.@SkySport are reporting that Anderlecht have made a bid for Genoa striker Vitinha.

Dolberg was seen as a wonderkid as a teenager, and whilst he didn’t hit the heights he would have liked, he has still fared pretty well in Belgium.
Whatever happens, expect there to be a lot of action in Glasgow on transfer deadline day, and the lights won’t go out until after midnight.
