Football’s transfer window has slummed shut with multiple massive moves sealed on Deadline Day that could have a major say on how the English Premier League unfolds this season.

Below is a comprehensive list of every club’s ins and outs with every team’s transfer window graded!

Grade: B+
The Gunners were blasted for not bringing in more creative players in the middle of the park following their 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on the weekend, but overall, they have had a strong transfer window. Swedish Viktor Gyokeres scored more goals than anyone in Europe last season, and made an early statement with a brace against Leeds United in his first league home game. The late acquisition of Eberechi Eze is also a significant boost to their attack. Spanish defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi is a highly regarded prospect, while Christian Norgaard is already a proven Premier League performer.

ASTON VILLA
In:
Yasin Ozcan (Kasimpasa, undisclosed), Zepiqueno Redmond (Feyenoord, free), Marco Bizot (Brest, undisclosed), Modou Keba Cisse (LASK, undisclosed) and Evann Guessand (Nice, £28m), Victor Lindelof (unattached, free), Jadon Sancho (Man Utd, loan) and Harvey Elliott (Liverpool, loan),
Out:
Modou Keba Cisse (LASK, loan), Enzo Barrenechea (Benfica, loan), Robin Olsen (released), Rico Richards (Port Vale, undisclosed), Josh Feeney (Huddersfield, loan), Kaine Kesler Hayden (Coventry, £3.5m), Philippe Coutinho (Vasco da Gama, undisclosed), Kortney Hause (released), Oliwier Zych (Rakow Czestochowa, loan), Kosta Nedeljkovic (RB Leipzig, loan), Louie Barry (Sheffield United, loan), Jacob Ramsey (Newcastle, £43m), Lewis Dobbin (Preston, loan), Alex Moreno (Girona, undisclosed), Samuel Iling-Junior (West Brom, loan),
Zepiqueno Redmond (Huddersfield, loan) and Australian goalkeeper Joe Gauci (Port Vale, loan).
Grade: E
A winless, and goalless, start to the season has not been made easier by a less than promising transfer window. Losing midfielder Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle is a blow, but they did deny a move to Manchester United for goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Forward Evann Gussand appears to be a promising signing after scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists for French outfit Nice last season, but otherwise their hopes are going to pin on some loan signings. Marcus Rashford made a positive impact during his loan spell in Birmingham and they will be hoping that fellow Manchester United exile Jadon Sancho can do the same. Harvey Elliott from Liverpool is also a player of promise.
BOURNEMOUTH
In:
Djordje Petrovic (Chelsea, £25m), Eli Junior Kroupi (Lorient, recalled from loan), Adrien Truffert (Rennes, £14.4m), Bafode Diakite (Lille, £35m), Ben Gannon Doak (Liverpool, £25m), Amine Adli (Bayer Leverkusen, £25m), Veljko Milosavljevic (Red Star Belgrade, undisclosed) and Alex Jimenez (AC Milan, loan).
Out:
Illia Zabarnyi (PSG, £54.5m), Milos Kerkez (Liverpool, £40m), Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid, £50m), Jaidon Anthony (Burnley, £10m), Mark Travers (Everton, £4m), Daniel Jebbison (Preston, loan), Max Aarons (Rangers, loan), Joe Rothwell (Rangers, undisclosed), Neto (Botafogo, undisclosed), Dango Ouattara (Brentford, £42m), Alex Paulsen (Lechia Gdansk, loan) and Ben Winterburn (Barnet, loan).
Grade: C
The Cherris have started the season strongly, with back-to-back wins going into the international window, to show some potential despite losing plenty of important players in this transfer window. The club’s financial team will be pleased with making more than A$400 million from the sales. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has started well on the English south coast since joining from Chelsea.

BRENTFORD
In:
Michael Kayode (Fiorentina, £14m), Romelle Donovan (Birmingham, undisclosed), Caoimhin Kelleher (Liverpool, £18m), Antoni Milambo (Feyenoord, £18.8m), Jordan Henderson (Ajax, free), Dango Ouattara (Bournemouth, £42m) and Reiss Nelson (Arsenal, loan).
Out:
Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United, £71m), Christian Norgaard (Arsenal, £15m), Mark Flekken (Bayer Leverkusen, £11m), Ben Mee (released), Tony Yogane (Dundee, loan), Mads Roerslev (Southampton, undisclosed) and Yoane Wissa (Newcastle, £55m).
Grade: D-
It has been a brutal transfer window for the Bees with their top goal scorer (Bryan Mbeumo), their second leading goal scorer (Yoane Wissa), their captain (Christian Norgaard), their first-choice goalkeeper (Mark Flekken) and their most successful ever manager (Thomas Frank) all walking out the door. Jordan Henderson is a handy signing to help fill the experience and leadership void, while Dango Ouattara made a dream start to his time with the club, scoring the winner on debut against Aston Villa.
BRIGHTON
In:
Maxim De Cuyper (Club Brugge, £17.3m), Olivier Boscagli (PSV Eindhoven, free), Diego Coppola (Hellas Verona, £9m), Tom Watson (Sunderland, £10m), Yoon Doyoung (Daejeon Hana Citizen), Charalampos Kostoulas (Olympiacos, £31.4m) and Nils Ramming (Eintracht Frankfurt, £725k).
Out:
Evan Ferguson (Roma, loan), Simon Adingra (Sunderland, £20.5m), Joao Pedro (Chelsea, £60m), Pervis Estupinan (AC Milan, £17.4m), James Beadle (Birmingham, loan), Valentin Barco (Strasbourg, undisclosed), Odel Offiah (Preston, £1.5m), Ibrahim Osman (Auxerre, loan), Mark O’Mahony (Reading, loan), Amario Cozier-Duberry (Bolton, loan), Kjell Scherpen (Union Saint-Gilloise, undisclosed), Eiran Cashin (Birmingham, loan), Kamari Doyle (Reading, loan), Malick Yalcouye (Swansea, loan), Abdallah Sima (Lens, £4m), Tariq Lamptey (Fiorentina, £6m) and Igor Julio (West Ham, loan).
Grade: C
The annual player exodus hit Brighton again this transfer window, headlined by the departures of Joao Pedro, Simon Adringra and Pervis Estupinan. The Seagulls have full pockets now from those sales, but did not invest their money beyond the purchases of defender Maxim De Cuyper and forward Charalampos Kostoulas. It may have been a show of faith in their current crop, who upset Manchester City at home on the weekend.

BURNLEY
In:
Kyle Walker (Manchester City, £5m), Loum Tchaouna (Lazio, £12m), Axel Tuanzebe (Ipswich, free), Quilindschy Hartman (Feyenoord, undisclosed), Bashir Humphrey (Chelsea, £10m), Jaidon Anthony (Bournemouth, £8m), Marcus Edwards (Sporting CP, £8.5m), Zian Flemming (Millwall, £7m), Max Weiss (Karlsruher, £4.2m), Jacob Bruun Larsen (Stuttgart, undisclosed), Lesley Ugochukwu (Chelsea, undisclosed), Martin Dubravka (Newcastle, undisclosed) and Armando Broja (Chelsea, undisclosed).
Out:
James Trafford (Man City, £31m), Josh Brownhill (released), Nathan Redmond (released), Jonjo Shelvey (released), CJ Egan-Riley (Marseille, free), Andreas Hountondji (St. Pauli, loan), Han-Noah Massengo (Augsburg, undisclosed), Joe Westley (Dundee, undisclosed) and Luca Koleosho – Espanyol, loan.
Grade: C+
There have been a lot of shrewd moves from the newly promoted side, highlighted by the acquisition of Kyle Walker, who brings experience and leadership. Goalkeeper James Trafford’s exit hurts, but Burnley have recruited strongly to build squad depth, which is exactly what they need to do upon returning to the top flight. It reaped early rewards with a victory against fellow newcomers Sunderland, but they felt like they copped the rough end of the stick from VAR despite positive signs in their 3-2 loss at Old Trafford in their last outing.
CHELSEA
In:
Jamie Gittens (Dortmund, £51.5m), Joao Pedro (Brighton, £60m), Liam Delap (Ipswich, £30m), Jorrel Hato (Ajax, £38.5m), Estevao Willian (Palmeiras, £29m), Dario Essugo (Sporting, £18.5m), Mamadou Sarr (RC Strasbourg, £12m), Kendry Paez (Independiente del Valle, £17.3m) and Alejandro Garnacho (Man Utd, £40m),
Out:
Kendry Paez (Strasbourg, loan), Djordje Petrovic (Bournemouth, £25m), Bashir Humphrey (Burnley, undisclosed), Marcus Bettinelli (Man City, undisclosed), Kepa Arrizabalga (Arsenal, £5m), Mathis Amougou (Strasbourg, undisclosed), Zak Sturge (Millwall, undisclosed), Noni Madueke (Arsenal, £52m), Caleb Wiley (Watford, loan), Mike Penders (RC Strasbourg, loan), Joao Felix (Al Nassr, £43.7m), Ishe Samuels-Smith (Strasbourg, undisclosed), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton, £29m), Lesley Ugochukwu (Burnley, undisclosed), Marc Guiu (Sunderland, loan), Armando Broja (Burnley, undisclosed), Renato Veiga (Villarreal, £26m), Carney Chukwuemeka (Borussia Dortmund, £24m), Aaron Anselmino (Borussia Dortmund, loan), Alfie Gilchrist (West Brom, £1.2m), Brodi Hughes (AFC Wimbledon, loan), Christopher Nkunku (AC Milan, £36m), Omari Kellyman (Cardiff City, loan), Alex Matos (Sheff Utd, undisclosed), Nicolas Jackson (Bayern Munich, loan with obligation to buy) and Ben Chilwell (Strasbourg, undisclosed).
Grade: A
As is the case most transfer windows, Chelsea have been incredibly busy but this time around, fans already had a taste of the impact of their new signings during the Club World Cup. The London club shocked PSG in the final to win the title with their revitalised attack, and they have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League season too. Sitting second, and only have scored less goals than league leaders Liverpool, Chelsea are looking potent. Joao Pedro played a crucial role in their success in the United States, and has scored twice in three games so far this season. Liam Delap is a proven Premier League goal scorer, but suffered a hamstring injury in their 2-0 win at home against Fulham on the weekend. The Blues have also brought in talented youngsters in winger Jamie Gittens, who they were determined to get their hands on, and Estevao, who is nicknamed ‘Messinho’ in his home country of Brazil, and scored a cracking goal against Chelsea at the Club World Cup. Manchester United discard Alejandro Garnacho has received a strong show of faith with Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson sent out on loan.

CRYSTAL PALACE
In:
Walter Benitez (PSV Eindhoven, free), Borna Sosa (Ajax, £3m), Yeremy Pino (Villarreal, £26m), Jaydee Canvot (Toulouse, undisclosed) and Christantus Uche (Getafe, £17.3m).
Out:
Eberechi Eze (Arsenal, £67.5m), Rob Holding (Colorado Rapids, free), Joel Ward (released), Jeffrey Schlupp (Norwich, free), Louie Moulden (released), Owen Goodman (Huddersfield, loan), Joe Whitworth (Exeter, loan), Danny Imray (Blackpool, loan), David Ozoh (Derby, loan), Malcolm Ebiowei (Blackpool, undisclosed), Matheus Franca (Vasco da Gama, loan) and Odsonne Edouard (Lens, undisclosed).
Grade: E
The FA Cup champions continue to stand up to the bigger clubs on the pitch as they are unbeaten with a win and two draws to start the season. They also did so off the pitch with manager Oliver Glasner reportedly stepping in at the last minute to deny captain Marc Guehi a Deadline Day move to Liverpool. Guehi had even apparently filmed a farewell video for the Palace fans. Palace lost Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, which was a significant blow. The saga of being demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League over multiple ownership issues was no doubt a blow to acquiring players.
EVERTON
In:
Jack Grealish (Manchester City, loan), Thierno Barry (Villarreal, £27m), Mark Travers (Bournemouth, £4m), Adam Aznou (Bayern Munich, £10m) and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Chelsea, £29m), Charly Alcaraz (Flamengo, £12m), Tom King (Wolves, undisclosed), Tyler Dibling (Southampton, £42m) and Merlin Rohl (Freiburg, loan).
Out:
Neal Maupay (Marseille, undisclosed), Jenson Metcalfe (Bradford, undisclosed), Matthew Apter (Cardiff, free), Asmir Begovic (Leicester, free), Luke Butterfield (Chesterfield, free), Mason Holgate (Al-Gharafa, free), Zan-Luk Leban (NK Celje, free), Joao Virginia (Sporting CP, free), Ashley Young (Ipswich, free), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (released), Billy Crellin (released), Abdoulaye Doucoure (released), Youssef Chermiti (Rangers, £10m) and Harrison Armstrong (Preston, loan).
Grade: C
Jack Grealish’s arrival on loan has been a master stroke so far with four assists in two starts since joining from Manchester City. Tyler Dibling is an exciting teenage winger, while Charly Alcaraz made his loan deal permanent as David Moyes rejuvenated his attack. Thierno Barry is another player in that mix. He is only 22 years old and scored 11 goals in La Liga last season. Like Grealish, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is looking to elevate his reputation after a year at Chelsea where he was largely confined to featuring in their Conference League, while Adam Aznou is a talented 19-year-old defender.

FULHAM
In:
Benjamin Lecomte (Montpellier, undisclosed) and Kevin (Shakhtar, £34.6m).
Out:
Carlos Vinicius (released),Willian (released), Luca Ashby-Hammond (released), Callum Osmand (Celtic, released) and Steven Benda (Millwall, loan), Harvey Araujo (Colchester, loan) and Martial Godo (Strasbourg, undisclosed).
Grade: D
There was next to no movement at Craven Cottage until 22-year-old Brazilian winger Kevin signed for a club record fee on Deadline Day. Two draws and a loss marred by VAR drama at Chelsea does not call for panic stations for Marco Silva’s side, but fans will be nervous about their prospects given the lack of new talent.
LEEDS UNITED
In:
Anton Stach (Hoffenheim, £17.4m), Sebastiaan Bornauw (Wolfsburg, £5.1m), Lukas Nmecha (Wolfsburg, free), Jaka Bijol (Udinese, £15m), Gabriel Gudmundsson (Lille, £10m), Sean Longstaff (Newcastle, £12m), Lucas Perri (Lyon, £15.6m), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton, free), Noah Okafor (AC Milan, £18m) and James Justin (Leicester, £10m).
Out:
Josuha Guilavogui (released), Joe Snowdon (Swindon, free), Junior Firpo (released), Max Wober (Werder Bremen, loan) and Mateo Joseph (Mallorca, loan), Patrick Bamford (released) and Sam Greenwood (Pogon Szczecin, undisclosed).
Grade: B
Leeds delivered a promising transfer window, and have picked up four points in three outings to start their return to the top flight. There is plenty of optimism surrounding the Yorkshire club as a result, who have turned Elland Road into the land of the giants. Signings Anton Stach, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Sean Longstaff are among a host of players who are 180cm or taller as Leeds seemingly try make themselves formidable from set pieces. Lucas Perri has kept two clean sheets as the club’s new No.1. Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a handy pick up for nothing, while Noah Okafor was their top priced signing to also add more potency to their attack.
Isak sold to Liverpool for record fee | 00:30
LIVERPOOL
In:
Alexander Isak (Newcastle, £125m), Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth, £40m), Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen, £116m), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen, £29.5m), Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia, £29m), Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt, £79m), Armin Pecsi (Puskas Akademia, £1.5m), Freddie Woodman (Preston, free) and Giovanni Leoni (Parma, £26m)
Out:
Darwin Nunez (Al Hilal, £56.6m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid, £10m), Caoimhin Kelleher (Brentford, £18m), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen, £35m), Luis Diaz (Bayern Munich, £65m), Tyler Morton (Lyon, £15m), Nat Phillips (West Brom, £3m), Vitezslav Jaros (Ajax, loan) and Owen Beck (Derby, loan), Ben Gannon Doak (Bournemouth, £25m), Luca Stephenson (Dundee United, loan), Lewis Koumas (Birmingham City, loan) and Harvey Elliott (Aston Villa, loan).
Grade: A
A more than $900 million spending spree by the champions yielded an impressive haul, capped off by the signing of Alexander Isak on deadline day bringing an end to the saga of the transfer window. No team has scored more goals than Liverpool’s tally of eight in the opening three games of the season, and they are also they only side with a perfect three wins from three. Now, they will add in last season’s runner-up in the golden boot race to their attacking mix. It could have got even better if they bolstered their centre back stocks by securing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, although that deal fell through at the death knock. Regardless, Jeremie Frimpong has slotted straight in as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement, while Milos Kerkez has also bolstered their defence. Attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and forward Hugo Ekitike add a new dimension to their attack, with Ekitike scoring two goals already this season.
MANCHESTER CITY
In:
Tijjani Reijnders (AC Milan, £46.3m), Rayan Ait Nouri (Wolves, £36m), Marcus Bettinelli (Chelsea, undisclosed), Rayan Cherki (Lyon, £34m), Sverre Nypan (Rosenborg, £12.5m), James Trafford (Burnley, £31m) and Ginaluigi Donnarumma (PSG, £26m).
Out:
Ederson (Fenerbahce, £12.1m), Kevin De Bruyne (released, Napoli), Jacob Wright (Norwich, undisclosed), Scott Carson (released), Kyle Walker (Burnley, £5m), Divin Mubama (Stoke City, loan), Maximo Perrone (Como, loan), Jahmai Simpson-Pusey (Celtic, loan), Vitor Reis (Girona, loan), Max Alleyne (Watford, loan), Jack Grealish (Everton, loan), James McAtee (Nottm Forest, £30m), Claudio Echeverri (Bayer Leverkusen, loan), Callum Doyle (Wrexham, £8m) and Issa Kabore (Wrexham, loan).
Grade: B-
Pep Guardiola has undertaken a revamp after a trophyless season with several signings that were completed before the Club World Cup. What shaped up a really promising transfer window has not gone exactly to plan as 21-year-old winger Rayan Cherki has been sidelined for two months with a quad injury. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s deal was done on Deadline Day, but is yet to be formally announced. There are concerns raised about the Italian’s skills with the ball at his feet, and how that counteracts Guardiola’s style. Positively, midfielder Tijani Reijnders has already shown that he is a classy operator, while Rayan Ait Nouri is an accomplished left back. City fans will also keep a keen eye on Sverre Nypan as they beat out several other top clubs for the teenage midfielder’s signature, and the last signing they made from Norway worked out well.
MANCHESTER UNITED
In:
Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford, £71m), Matheus Cunha (Wolves, £62.5m), Diego Leon (Cerro Porteno, £7m), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig – £73.7m) and Senne Lammens (Royal Antwerp, £18.2m).
Out:
Alejandro Garnacho (Chelsea, £40m), Rasmus Hojlund (Napoli, loan), Antony (Real Betis, £21.7m), Jadon Sancho (Aston Villa, loan), Christian Eriksen (released), Jonny Evans (released), Victor Lindelof (released), Elyh Harrison (Shrewsbury, loan), Marcus Rashford (Barcelona, loan), Radek Vitek (Bristol City, loan), Ethan Wheatley (Northampton Town, loan), Jack Moorhouse (Leyton Orient, loan), Toby Collyer (West Brom, loan), Ethan Williams (Falkirk, loan) and Harry Amass (Sheff Wed, loan).
Grade: B-
Ruben Amorim’s clean out has taken place, but things have not been rosy early days for United’s new look attack. All of whom are proven goal scorers with Bryan Mbeumo netting 20 times in the Premier League, while Matheus Cunha scored 15 goals in the English top flight and Benjamin Sesko tallied 13 goals in the Bundesliga. Mbeumo is the only one of the trio to find the back of the net so far, however, and his goal against Burnley was the only goal United have scored not via an own goal or from a penalty so far this league campaign. United’s banished players have found new homes, albeit not all of them permanently. United also addressed their goalkeeper problem by signing 23-year-old Senne Lammens from the Belgian Pro League.

NEWCASTLE UNITED
In:
Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest, £55m), Antonio Cordero (Malaga, free), Aaron Ramsdale (Southampton, loan), Malick Thiaw (AC Milan, £34.5m), Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa, £43m), Nick Woltemade (Stuttgart, £69m) and Yoane Wissa (Brentford, £55m).
Out:
Alexander Isak (Liverpool, £125m), Lloyd Kelly (Juventus, £20m), Jamal Lewis (released), Callum Wilson (West Ham, free), Sean Longstaff (Leeds, £12m), Martin Dubravka (Burnley, undisclosed), Odysseas Vlachodimos (Sevilla, loan) and Matt Targett (Middlesbrough, loan).
Grade: D
Newcastle endured a nightmare transfer period with the Alexander Isak saga dragging on until Deadline Day. They secured a British record fee for the wantaway striker in the end, but Isak not making his intent to leave clear earlier meant the Magpies missed out on several other potential strikers. Late in the window, they acquired Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa as goal scoring options. Winger Anthony Elanga is a good addition, so too are midfielder Jacob Ramsey and centre back Malick Thiaw. But the start to the season has been a disaster for Eddie Howe’s men as they are yet to win a match. With a Champions League campaign fast approaching, Newcastle need to start afresh and move on quickly with the Isak drama behind them.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST
In:
Dan Ndoye (Bologna, £34m), Igor Jesus (Botafogo, £10m), Cherif Yaya (Rio Ave, undisclosed), Jair Cunha (Botafogo, undisclosed) and Angus Gunn (Norwich, free), Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich, £37.5m), James McAtee (Man City, £30m), Arnaud Kalimuendo (Rennes, £25m), Douglas Luiz (Juventus, loan with obligation to buy), Nicolo Savona (Juventus, £11.25m), Cuiabano (Botafogo, undisclosed), Dilane Bakwa (Strasbourg, £34.7m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal, loan).
Out:
Anthony Elanga (Newcastle, £55m), Harry Toffolo (released), Jack Perkins (Northampton, undisclosed), Andrew Omobamidele (Strasbourg, undisclosed), Tyler Bindon (Sheffield United, loan), Ramon Sosa (Palmeiras, undisclosed), Ben Perry (Colchester, undisclosed), Lewis O’Brien (Wrexham, undisclosed), Matt Turner (Lyon, £6.5m) and Emmanuel Dennis (contract mutually terminated).
Grade: C
Once their promotion to the Europa League at the expense of Crystal Palace was confirmed, Forest got busy. Dan Ndoye has made a promising start with a goal and an assist in three Premier League outings, while 21-year-old winger or attacking midfielder Omari Hutchinson was their biggest spend on signing, and he showed his talent for Ipswich last season. Forest have adopted a youth policy with James McAtee and Dilane Bakwa also in their early 20s. Brazilian international Douglas Luiz could be a handy addition in his Premier League return, having previously been with Aston Villa.

SUNDERLAND
In:
Granit Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen, £17.3m), Simon Adingra (Brighton, £20.5m), Habib Diarra (Strasbourg, £30m), Enzo Le Fee (Roma, £20m), Noah Sadiki (Union Saint-Gilloise, £17.5m), Reinildo Mandava (Atletico Madrid, free), Chemsdine Talbi (Club Brugge, £19m), Robin Roefs (NEC Nijmegen, £11.5m), Marc Guiu (Chelsea, loan) and Omar Alderete (Getafe, undisclosed), Lutsharel Geertruida (RB Leipzig, loan), Brian Brobbey (Ajax, £21.3m) and Bertrand Traore (Ajax, £2.5m).
Out:
Tommy Watson (Brighton, £10m), Jobe Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund, £32m), Nathan Bishop (AFC Wimbledon, undisclosed), Adil Aouchiche (Aberdeen, loan) and Jordan Seelt (Wolfsburg, loan).
Grade: C
The third of the promoted sides, Sunderland had a busy transfer window as they made their Premier League return for the first time since 2017. Sunderland fell to the English third tier in the time in between, but have made a fantastic start to life in the top flight again with two wins so far. Former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka is a good signing, bringing experience and leadership to the Black Cats. Several of their other signings are punts, but they have built important depth and surely some of those rolls of the dice pay off in the long run.
TOTTENHAM
In:
Kevin Danso (RC Lens, £20.9m), Luka Vuskovic (Hajduk Split, £9.5m), Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich, £29.9m), Kota Takai (Kawasaki Frontale, £5m), Mohammed Kudus (West Ham, £55m), Joao Palhinha (Bayern Munich, loan) and Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig, £51m).
Out:
Hueng-min Son (LAFC, £19m), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Marseille, £17m), Mikey Moore (Rangers, loan), Fraser Forster (released), Sergio Reguilon (released), Alfie Whiteman (released), Damola Ajayi (Doncaster Rovers, loan), Alejo Veliz (Rosario Central, loan), Josh Keeley (Luton, £1m), Alfie Dorrington (Aberdeen, loan), Tyrese Hall (Notts County, loan), Bryan Gil (Girona, loan) and Manor Solomon (Villarreal, loan).
Grade: C
Tottenham made a strong start to the season with back-to-back wins before a surprise loss at home to Bournemouth, but the early uptick under new manager Thomas Frank was largely off the back of players they already had. Mohammed Kudus has two assists so far, while Joao Palhinia’s return to the Premier League has added some steel in midfield. Dutch international Xavi Simons is an exciting prospect, having done well in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel were already there last season, but their loan deals were made permanent. Spurs missed out on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, however, with rivals Arsenal hijacking the deal late in the piece.

WEST HAM UNITED
In:
Jean-Clair Todibo (Nice, £35m), El Hadji Malick Diouf (Slavia Prague, £19m), Daniel Cummings (Celtic, free), Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton, free), Callum Wilson (Newcastle, free), Mads Hermansen (Leicester City, £18m), Mateus Fernandes (Southampton, £42m), Soungoutou Magassa (Monaco, £17.3m) and Igor Julio (Brighton, loan).
Out:
Mohammed Kudus (Tottenham, £55m), Patrick Kelly (Barnsley, undisclosed), Sean Moore (Shelbourne, undisclosed), Aaron Cresswell (Stoke, free), Vladimir Coufal (Hoffenheim, free), Kamarai Swyer (Northampton, free), Michail Antonio (released), Lukasz Fabianski (released), Danny Ings (released), Kurt Zouma (released), Michael Forbes (Northampton, loan), Gideon Kodua (Luton, loan), Mason Terry (Braintree, loan), Emerson Palmieri (Marseille, undisclosed) and Maxwel Cornet (Genoa, loan).
Grade: D
A clean-out has taken place after a poor campaign at West Ham. Manager Graham Potter, who took over in January, got a much needed win at Nottingham Forest after two concerning losses, and an uninspiring transfer window. The defensive stocks have been bolstered with El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters are set to play on either defensive wing, while centre back Jean-Clair Todibo’s loan move has been permanent. Soungoutou Magassa and Igor Julio add more defensive options. Callum Wilson may be a handy addition, but Hammers fans did not receive the goal scoring threat they really craved.
WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
In:
Fer Lopez (Celta, £21.3m), Jorgen Strand Larsen (Celta Vigo, undisclosed), Jhon Arias (Fluminense, £15m) and David Moller Wolfe (AZ Alkmaar, £10m), Ladislav Krejci (Girona, loan) and Tolu Arokodare (Genk, £23.4m)
Out:
Matheus Cunha (Man Utd, £62.5m), Rayan Ait Nouri (Man City, £36.3m), Goncalo Guedes (Real Sociedad, £5.2m), Nelson Semedo (released), Tommy Doyle (Birmingham, loan), Nasser Djiga (Rangers, loan), Boubacar Traore (Metz, loan), Pablo Sarabia (released, Al-Arabi), Craig Dawson (released), Chem Campbell (Stevenage, free), Chiquinho (Alverca, undisclosed), Tom King (Everton, undisclosed) and Fabio Silva (Borussia Dortmund, £22.8m).
Grade: E
The departures of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait Nouri are significant blows to Wolves, but the permanent signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen after scoring 14 goals in the previous campaign is a boost. Jhon Arias is likely to serve as Cunha’s replacement, but they failed to make further signings to gain more bite across the park. Wolves are the only team without a point to their name heading into the international break.
