If the words “Coldplay Kiss Cam CEO (Alleged) Affair Scandal” mean nothing to you, then…where the heck have you been?

During a Coldplay show in Boston on July 16, a man and a woman went very, very, very viral for their alarmed reactions to being shown on the jumbotron during a segment of the concert, whereby the band highlights cute couples and happy-looking people in the crowd.

The man was hugging the woman from behind in a sweet embrace; however, when the cameras cut to them, a look of apparent fear crossed their faces, and they couldn’t separate fast enough. If you’ve not seen the clip, the man ducked to the ground while the woman abruptly turned her back and covered her face, leaving everyone, including frontman Chris Martin, in complete confusion.

As you’d expect, the reactions sparked speculation that the pair seriously did not want to be seen together — and even Chris couldn’t help but comment on the strangeness of it all, announcing to the crowd in the moment: “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

It’s fair to say the video literally took over the internet last week, and the duo were soon identified as Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, the CEO and chief people officer of a big tech company called Astronomer. To make matters messier, it was reported that Andy is married with two children.
As for Kristin, she apparently finalized her divorce in 2022.
For context, the whole filming the audience thing happens on every stop of Coldplay’s tour. And so, when the band returned to the stage in Wisconsin on Saturday, Chris made sure to give concertgoers a very clear heads-up before the cameras turned to them.

“We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd. How we’re gonna do that is we’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen,” Chris can be heard saying in a fan-recorded clip from the band’s recent tour stop.

Notably, both Chris and the crowd let out some knowing laughter, and he concluded by saying: “So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
As it stands, Chris has not explicitly addressed the viral moment, which, if you’ve not been keeping up, has taken a pretty serious turn with the news that Andy Byron has left his position as Astronomer’s CEO. In a statement put out on Saturday, the tech firm said: “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
