Energy Minister Chris Bowen will release a long-awaited National Climate Risk Assessment ahead of setting new 2035 emissions reductions targets, raising the prospect the government may take a more ambitious path towards achieving net zero goals by 2050.
The government had previously refused to reveal whether the risk report, described by insiders as shocking, would be released before or after the 2035 emissions cuts were unveiled.
