AFTER 17 seasons, Will Power has split from Team Penske.

The announcement ends speculation that has swirled throughout the 2025 season, which was a tough one for the Penske outfit on multiple fronts.

Power was the team’s top finishing driver in the standings in ninth, having won at Portland.

It is expected that David Malukas, who has been signed by Penske since late last year, will be named as his replacement.

Industry speculation has Power shifting to Andretti Global, filling Colton Herta’s seat, who is expected to chase his F1 dreams.

“It’s been the honour of my life to drive for Roger and the Penske organisation,” said Power in a statement.

“We have accomplished so much together, and I will always be grateful for my time with the team and my teammates who have supported me along the way.

“After much consideration, I felt like a change for me was the right move at this time.”

The Power-Penske relationship was one of the longest-lasting and most successful in the history of North American open-wheel racing.

Since linking up in 2009, Power has claimed 42 race wins, 102 podiums, the IndyCar championship in 2014 and 2022, and has also finished in the top three at the end of the season on six other occasions.

He is currently fourth all-time on the IndyCar winners list, fourth in terms of podiums, and the leader for career poles, ahead of Mario Andretti and A.J. Foyt.

Power also won the Indianapolis 500 for Team Penske in 2018.

The Toowoomba native made his Champ Car debut on the Gold Coast in 2005, before spending two seasons with Walker Racing.

He then transferred to KV Racing Technology in 2008, when the two North American open-wheel series merged into one.

Thank you Will. I never thought I’d end up teammates with a true Motorsport legend but this crazy journey brought me there. I have enjoyed learning from you and trying to hone my craft to be as a precise as you are. I’ve still got a ways to go but I will always cherish the… pic.twitter.com/emQMWmN6d6

Malukas has to date campaigned in three and a half IndyCar seasons, with teams including Dale Coyne Racing, Meyer Shank Racing, and most recently, A.J. Foyt Racing.

To date, he has registered three career podiums, with a highlight being second in this year’s Indianapolis 500.

At Team Penske, Malukas will join two-time series champion Josef Newgarden, plus three-time Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin.

The 2026 IndyCar season will start in St Petersburg on March 1st.
