The Boston Red Sox had two players recognized by MLB for their strong August.

Aroldis Chapman named the American League Reliever of the Month, while Roman Anthony was named the American League Rookie of the Month.

In 11 innings pitched for Boston last month, Chapman recorded eight saves and struck out 14 batters. The right-hander also didn’t allow a hit and had a 0.00 ERA.

Chapman is having one of his best seasons with a 1.00 ERA with 28 saves and 77 strikeouts.

The Red Sox gave Chapman a one-year extension last month worth a guaranteed $13.3 million in 2026 and includes a vesting option for 2027.

Anthony, meanwhile, slashed .304/.390/.520/.909 with six home runs and 13 RBI in August.

The rookie suffered an oblique injury in Tuesday’s win over the Cleveland Guardians. He’ll undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

“It sucks,” Anthony said after the game. “I’m hoping for the best and staying positive, but anytime I’m not out there, I’m pretty pissed off. It sucks.”
