MATCH CENTRE: Broncos vs Storm teams, scores, videos, updates

The Broncos have received a huge boost ahead of their finals with Adam Reynolds, Ezra Mam and Selwyn Cobbo all running during the club’s Wednesday training session according to Code Sports.

While none will feature against the Storm to close out the regular season, it’s the biggest sign they could take the field again in 2025 despite initial fears Mam and Cobbo’s seasons were over.

That trio all suffered hamstring injuries in Round 23, with Reynolds firming for a return last weekend before a recurrence injury struck him down.

It remains to be seen whether Mam and Cobbo will be fit enough to play in the Broncos finals campaign, and it could depend on how deep a run Michael Maguire’s side makes. Reynolds, meanwhile, could slot back into the side in week one of the finals. “There is always that risk coming back from injury, but I’m still on schedule. I should be back for the first week of the finals,” he said.

Jahrome Hughes is 100 per cent confirmed to take the field according to Craig Bellamy, who revealed that the Storm “probably could have brought him back last week”.

“After six weeks off, it doesn’t matter how experienced, it’s hard to come back into a final so I think tomorrow night’s run is going to be beneficial for him and hopefully for us,” he said to Code Sports. Shawn Blore, meanwhile, could return in the finals after suffering a fractured larynx.

“They thought they’d have to operate, you know like a major operation but they don’t have to,” he said.

Gehamat Shibasaki has been dropped for “a breach of Broncos team standards, which has been dealt with internally”.

His omission sees Deine Mariner slot into the centres and Jesse Arthars earn a recall on the wing. Jaiyden Hunt has also shifted to the bench, with Brendan Piakura returning to the starting side.

Mariner will be a glaring target for the Storm, Broncos great Gorden Tallis believes.

“Well, defensively, he’s a winger so he’s going to get asked a lot of questions,” Tallis said. “(Storm coach) Craig Bellamy would probably be licking his lips, just the way that they’re going to attack.

I think (the Broncos) do lose a bit. Shibasaki showed in State of Origin when he went there. It was a big task for him and Robert Toia and they did a job.

So they are going to lose there but Mariner’s such an excitement with the football but it’s defensively where Brisbane have lacked.”

Jahrome Hughes returns ahead of the finals series in a huge boost for the Storm, having been sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

Xavier Coates, Eli Katoa, Nick Meaney and Josh King have all returned to the side after they were rested last week, while Tui Kamikamica also slots back in after suffering a head knock in Round 25.

Jack Howarth is eyeing a return from a groin injury and has been named on the extended reserves, while in a big blow Shawn Blore has suffered a fractured larynx and has been sidelined, with Ativalu Lisati named in his place.

The only player rested this week is Stefano Utoikamanu.
