EXCLUSIVE: Travel GuidesKevin and Janetta sure do spend a lot of time travelling the world – but when they’re done jetsetting, the couple return to a quiet town a world away from the hustle and bustle.

In their exclusive video series, which you can watch above, the couple take us inside their home in the small central Victorian town of Maldon.

Kevin and Janetta used to live in inner-city Melbourne, but had a “weekender” in Maldon before making the permanent move. Find out why below.

”We would come up here most weekends, friends would come and stay. Then when we retired we sold Abbotsford and moved up here permanently,” Janetta explained.

As Kevin put it, “we then got bored with that” and bought their current home only 400 metres away, which needed a complete renovation.

“You thought ‘what the hell are you thinking?'” Kevin turned to Janetta, who definitely agreed with that observation!

“All I could see was money and trouble. It was terrible, it was close to being a knockdown,” she replied.

But Kevin “doesn’t mind a challenge” and got stuck in.

“Everything had to be gutted inside this place. New walls, new roof, new verandas,” he explained.

“I had to strip the garden with a bulldozer, take it back to absolutely nothing and start all over again.”

Luckily, it was worth it!

While they spend so much of their time overseas with Travel Guides, it’s unsurprising that their hometown offers a lot of local travelling opportunities too.

Maldon was designated “Australia’s first notable town” and has kept its 19th-century, gold-rush era looks. (Domain)

“Maldon’s a great place to base yourself and you can radiate out. You can go to Bendigo, Ballarat’s only an hour away, Daylesford’s only 35 minutes away,” Kevin said.

Of course, they also have plenty of local recommendations too!
