King Charles has made an honest admission about ageing this week after speaking to patients during a royal visit. The monarch, 76, was out on Wednesday at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.
During his visit, the King officially opened the 736-bed facility in Smethwick. He also spent time inside the hospital speaking to members of staff and patients.
Among the patients the monarch spoke to was 85-year-old Jacqueline Page, with the pair finding common ground over the hardships of ageing.
As reported by GB News, the King was very honest about the “terrible” part of getting older.
When patient Jacqueline Page told the royal she was “wearing out”, he replied: “I know.
“This is the terrible thing, as I’m discovering already — the bits don’t work so well after you get past 70, do they?”
This is not the first time Charles has made such a comment about ageing, joking at a royal engagement earlier this year that he was past his “sell-by date”.
