“It means so much. Adelaide had a really good year and we knew it would be challenging coming over here,” he says of the win.

“But we knew the Magpie Army would travel, they paid expensive flight tickets and we wanted to put on a show for them.”

Daicos spent the morning having breakfast with brother Josh and dad Peter.

What was the final message from the old man?

“Go f***ing win,” Daicos says.

Bruce McAvaney was almost speechless.

“O…K,” he paused.

“We’ll take a breath.”

It was a big celebration in the Collingwood rooms afterwards with just about everyone joining the song.

“Those are rare scenes,” Nick Riewoldt says.

“You rarely see the CEO, board members, staff, everyone in.”

And then it was Craig McRae’s turn to drop an F-bomb.

Given the chance to say whatever he wanted to fans at home, he took it literally.

“We’re so grateful for the ones who have travelled, the ones who are home celebrating now,”

“We love you. We f***ing love ya.”

Hamish McLachlan and Riewoldt could only laugh.

“Pardon the F-bomb but that’s just what this game does,” McLachlan says.

Riewoldt adds: “It’s emotion, Hame. You never know what you’re going to get in Macca’s Extra Time. That was a Happy Meal with the lot from Craig McRae.”
