A blast of winter weather is coming for parts of Australia, bringing intense rain, thunderstorms and gale-force winds.

The low-pressure system will bring cold air, storms, rain and “blustery” winds across the west of WA today before moving further east tomorrow and into Sunday, according to Weatherzone.

An estimated 10mm to 40mm is expected in the South West Land Division over the weekend.

The heaviest falls are expected on the coast between Geraldton and Esperance.

There is a chance of localised flooding, weather experts have warned.

Winds will also pick up from today, with stronger winds expected to develop tonight into Saturday.

Temperatures in Perth will hit a minimum of 9 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, and a peak of 18 degrees.

Adelaide will also see cloudy skies and some rain over the weekend.

Today, the city will hit a peak temperature of 19 degrees with winds up to 35km/h.

Saturday will see cloudy skies but warm temperatures up to 25 degrees, before dropping to 23 degrees on Sunday.

Showers are expected on Saturday and Sunday morning. 

Similar wet weather is expected in Victoria.

Today will be mostly sunny but temperatures won’t climb past 15 degrees.

Cloudy skies are expected tomorrow with a slightly warmer temperature of 21 degrees.

Showers are expected on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the rest of Australia will experience warm and sunny weather as we enter the second week of Spring.

In Sydney, there’s a low chance of rain over for this weekend with partly cloudy weather forecast.

Temperatures will hit a peak of 23 degrees on Sunday, with warmish temperatures between 19 and 20 degrees today and tomorrow.

Canberra can expect similar weather, with clear skies expected.

Brisbane will be hot and sunny, with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees today before dropping to a warm 23 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.

Darwin will see hot weather all weekend, with the possiblilty of a shower or two as temperatures sor to 34 degrees.
