MOREE District Cricket Association is dusting off the wickets and padding up for another big season at Ron Harborne Ovals.

The 2025-2026 cricket season will get underway on Saturday, October 18, but there is an important stand-alone day one week before the launch.

Moree club president, Grady Sinclair, said Rowdo’s Day will be held on Saturday, October 11 to start the new season and honour former club president and trailblazer Chris Rowden, who tragically passed away two weeks before Christmas in 2023.

“Rowdo’s Day is an eight-over, eight-a-side, round-robin competition,” Sinclair said.

“The whole purpose of Rowdo’s Day is it inclusiveness – a day to be enjoyed by everyone.

“Whether people are cricketers or not, they are welcome to come along and be involved in the day. “Chris was all about inclusion and enjoying cricket, so I think by us organising and continuing his legacy, we’re pushing senior cricket in the right direction,” he said.

Rowdo Day will include a club barbecue and presentation of the Chris Rowden Shield to the winning team.

“The start time for play is yet be confirmed, but most likely will be 1pm,” Sinclair said.

The 2025-2026 Moree senior cricket season will get underway on Saturday, October 18.

Sinclair said the club will be back the following week – Saturday, October 18 – to bowl the first ball of the new season.

“We have been working hard in the background, trying to organise our 30-over competition,” Sinclair said.

“So far we have three teams confirmed to play, and would really like another team involved.

“If there are any senior cricketers out there thinking about playing but are undecided, please get in touch with me.

“The comp will most likely run for eight rounds with a grand-final round on December 13,” he said.

Meanwhile, Moree District Cricket Association AGM will be held Tuesday, September 9 at 6pm at Moree Golf Club.

“Everyone is welcome to come along to the AGM. We’ll have a bit to talk about, especially getting the new season finalised and teams organised,” Sinclair said.
