Lando Norris ended the opening day of the Italian Grand Prix on top, but it was not a typical comfortable Friday for McLaren with six drivers within two-tenths of a second at Monza. Norris led the way ahead of Charles Leclerc, while Williams’ Carlos Sainz completed the top three. Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were the remaining three drivers in the top six, with Hamilton having also led a Ferrari one-two in first practice. Elsewhere, home boy Kimi Antonelli suffered his latest difficulty, spinning in FP2 and triggering another red flag.
