Alex Eala won her first WTA 125 title on Sunday at the Guadalajara 125 Open, becoming a source of pride for the Rafa Nadal Academy, the school where she trained.

In a social media post, the academy congratulated Eala on her achievement.

“What a night in Guadalajara! After dropping the first set, Alex roared back with all her heart (emoji) to defeat Udvardy and claim her first WTA singles title,” it said.

“She’s now the first Filipino—man or woman—to win a WTA singles title. Goosebumps. Pure pride.”
