Max Verstappen has increased his lead to three seconds in front of McLaren’s Lando Norris. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri is in third, around four seconds behind his teammate.
Verstappen is absolutely flying and is notching faster laps then both Norris and Piastri. So why is the papaya car not as dominant in Monza? The McLaren car is particularly strong on corners, however, Monza is characterised by its long straights and heavy braking zones.
Monza’s many straights and few corners means the McLaren car no longer has a strong advantage.
