Stage 15 ā Sunday September 7
A Veiga/Vegadeo to Monforte de Lemos
Distance: 167.8km (104.3 miles)
Profile: Medium mountain stage
Stage 15: A day for the break?
This stage of the 2025 Vuelta is a perfect opportunity for long-range specialists.
The difficulties are frontloaded, with the opening 16km leading the riders to the summit of the category 1 Puerto A Garganta. A jagged profile follows from there, including the category 2 Alto de Barbeitos, with things only easing off after 92km or so.
From there the terrain is mostly downhill to the finish, enabling the peloton to put in a big chase, but with many difficult days before then the sprintersā teams may find it hard to gather their forces.
Race director Fernando EscartĆn:
āA mid-mountain stage in the ever-winding Galicia. The terrain will be tough all day long and, although the sprinter teams will try to control the stage, those who escape or maybe a brave rider who attacks in the final kilometers may have a chance at winning.ā
