Fremantle Dockers High Performance Manager Phil Merriman will depart the Club to pursue a new professional opportunity.

Merriman joined Fremantle in 2020 as the Club entered a new phase of its journey. With a younger playing list and a program in transition, he played an important role in laying the foundations for the Club’s current high performance environment.

His background in AFL, elite hockey, and Exercise Sports Science has helped shape a program driven by care and professionalism. Over five seasons, his leadership has been valued by players, coaches, and staff.

“I’ve appreciated the opportunity to work with Fremantle and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made,” Merriman said.

“After the achievements of recent years, I feel it’s the right time to take on a new challenge and continue my growth. I leave with great respect for the Club and its people.”

“I wish the Club all the best as it enters its next phase and look forward to seeing what’s ahead for them.”

Fremantle EGM Football Joe Brierty thanked Merriman for his contribution and will begin the search for a new High Performance Manager to continue driving Fremantle forward.

“We thank Phil for his contribution to Fremantle over the past five seasons,” Brierty said.

“It’s never easy to farewell someone that has made a significant contribution to the Club and we wish Phil all the best for the new challenge that awaits.

“As we continue to evolve our men’s football program, this decision provides us with an opportunity to find new leadership to take our high performance strategy forward.”
