After medical tests, FC Barcelona shared an update on Dario Brizuela.

Sidelined indefinitely pending further evaluation, the 30-year-old guard will initially sit out a preparation game opposite Girona on Friday due to a right hamstring injury, as announced on Monday.

He was hurt at the bottom end of an EuroBasket 2025 run with Spain, as noted by departing head coach Sergio Scariolo upon elimination on Thursday.

Logging five appearances in Limassol, Brizuela tallied 8.2 points, 2.8 assists, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per contest until an early exit from Gameday 5 of Group C. A losing effort against Greece marked elimination with a 2-3 record, falling to the wrong end of a tiebreaker versus Georgia and fifth place in the final standings. Spain officially ranked 17th overall.

In July, before launching his latest international assignment following a gold medal in EuroBasket 2022, Brizuela committed to Barca until the end of the 2027-28 season. Heading to the 2025-26 installments of EuroLeague and Spain’s Liga Endesa, he carries the experience of 68 games played in the premier club continental competition of Europe with the Catalonia powerhouse and 326 ACB appearances, including 70 with Barcelona.

The native of San Sebastian joined Barcelona before the 2023-24 season, following four years with Unicaja and seven with Movistar Estudiantes. Between the two clubs, he became a veteran of 49 appearances in the Basketball Champions League, leading to a spot in the Star Lineup First Team of the 2022-23 season.
