With mere hours to go until the iPhone 17 launch, it’s unlikely we’re going to hear anything new from leaks, but one of the most trusted iPhone sources has reiterated what they expect to see at the event. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman used a last-minute post on social network X to repeat some of the rumors we’ve heard about over the last 12 months that he believes will come true.
Gurman has reported some of these elements before, and other sources have also mentioned some of the features. However, be aware we won’t know anything for certain about the iPhone 17 until Apple confirms details on stage.

Gurman says, “I expect the new heat management system/vapor chamber on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max to be a key point.” Leaks have suggested this feature will make heat dissipation better on iPhone allowing for improved performance from the phone’s chip and less overheating during intensive tasks.
The report also mentions previously leaked info including changes to the design across the whole series, and two new colors for the Pro and Pro Max. Those shades are likely to be orange and blue, which Apple’s invite may have hinted at. Take a look at the shades used in the invite below for a suggestion of what to expect.

Gurman’s final note is on the cameras, which may be one of the star features. He says to expect “48MP across lenses” as well as “improved optical zoom.” The big story here would be the introduction of a 48MP telephoto camera, which leaks say will allow for up to 8x optical zoom.
That won’t be the best on a smartphone, but it will be the best we’ve ever seen on an iPhone, and it’ll be a remarkable step up for Apple fans. If true, expect to see a lot more people zooming in with their photography and video when they own an iPhone 17 Pro.

There’s not long until we officially learn about what’s happening with the iPhone 17. Apple’s event is set for today at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. PCMag will be in the room at Apple Park to get you first details of the launch.
Rumors suggest we’ll see the iPhone 17 series, including the first ever Air-branded iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 11, and AirPods Pro 3.
