Barnes & Noble announced the opening of its newest Maryland bookstore in Pasadena, set for Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The establishment will offer a wide selection of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items and more, the company announced. Pasadena’s Barnes & Noble store will be located in Pasadena Crossroads shopping center at 8044 Ritchie Highway – next to Ulta – in a near-14,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Party City.

Company executives will join New York Times bestselling author Brigid Kemmerer for an official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10. According to a Barnes & Noble release, Kemmerer will sign copies of her books, including her latest release, “Warrior Princess Assassin.”

“We are very pleased to open this beautiful new Barnes & Noble in Pasadena, our second new bookstore in Maryland to open in the past three months,” Barnes & Noble CEO James Daunt said.

“Each new Barnes & Noble is tailored to its community by a team of dedicated local booksellers, and our Pasadena staff have been hard at work. They are eager to welcome readers into their brand-new Pasadena Barnes & Noble.”

Company officials said Barnes & Noble is experiencing a bounceback with sales in its existing stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. The bookseller opened more new stores in 2024 than it had between 2009 and 2019, a Barnes & Noble release says.

The company expects to open more than 60 bookstores in 2025. The Pasadena location will join new bookstores in Florida and Washington set to open this month, Barnes & Noble announced.

“I am thrilled to be part of the team bringing Barnes & Noble to Pasadena,” store manager George Dressel, a Barnes & Noble bookseller of 23 years, said in a statement.

“This is going to be the place where our community of book lovers unite!”
