THE brand-new Holden Supercar which Triple Eight is building is set to debut in the hands of Super2 rookie Ben Gomersall on the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000 undercard.
V8 Sleuth last month revealed Triple Eight had committed to erecting a new Gen2 chassis which will become a ZB Commodore.
A timeline had not been specified at that stage, but car owner Jason Gomersall has affirmed the Mount Panorama Super2 round in October is the target.
Ben, 19, holds eighth in the standings at the halfway stage of the season, having opened his campaign with a round podium at Sydney Motorsport Park.

He will stay on in 888A-039 for next month’s visit to Queensland Raceway before making the switch, all things going to plan amid Triple Eight’s busy workload behind-the-scenes as it prepares to become Ford’s Supercars homologation team for 2026.
“That car that he is currently in, there’s a lot of brand-new stuff on it which will transfer across to the new chassis,” Gomersall Sr told V8 Sleuth.
“The reason we’re actually doing it is because I’ve got that many ZB or COTF car bits – engines, gearboxes, suspension – I figured, well, build a new chassis and have the benefit of it now and then when this program is finished in a year or two, I’ll have four complete cars to sell rather than three complete cars and a bunch of spares.”
That will also afford the flexibility of having a spare chassis for the time being in case of emergency, either for Triple Eight’s own team or to lease to another competitor.
Fellow Triple Eight Super2 driver Jackson Walls is racing 888A-033, which was converted to ZB specification in the off-season after Gomersall’s other COTF machine, 888A-050, was involved in a heavy crash at last year’s Adelaide finale.
888A-050 will also be rebuilt, Gomersall confirmed.
“It’s due to be repaired later this year. Obviously Triple Eight has got a fair bit on at the moment, so it’s parked in the corner,” he said.
“It will see another day. Whether it ever races again, keep in mind it was a Red Bull Whincup car, so that will be a good collector car.”
Until Triple Eight’s new rig hits the track, Walkinshaw Andretti United boasts the honour of having the newest Holden in the Super2 field, Campbell Logan’s Commodore having debuted in February.
