The NHL has begun releasing a list of the top 50 players in the league, and Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson has clocked in at 49th.

This list comprises the “top 50 players in the League right now” and was created by a combination of researchers, producers, and on-air personalities. The NHL has previously released rankings for players based on their positions.

Robertson was the first Stars player announced to make the list after posting one of the best seasons of his career in the 2024-25 season, finishing the year leading Dallas with 35 goals and ranking second on the team with 45 assists.

These performances have also been aided by Robertson’s remarkable ability to stay healthy over the past few years, playing the full 82 games in three straight seasons and appearing in at least 74 games for the past four.

Robertson is expected to play a major role for the Stars next season following the departure of forward Mason Marchment, who played a key role for this team during the 2024-25 season.

Although Robertson was the first Stars player to be named on this list, he is unlikely to be the last player to be recognized.

Realistically, there could be as many as three more Stars players who are recognized on this list even higher, with goalie Jake Oettinger, defenseman Miro Heiskanen, and forward Mikko Rantanen having the most likely chances to be named.

The high number of impact players on this Stars roster has helped this team become one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup next season, with this team currently having the sixth-best odds at +1000, according to ESPN.

However, the team will also have to adjust to a significant coaching change during the offseason, with the team moving on from Pete DeBoer and hiring Glen Gulutzan as head coach, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Despite the changes, this team is expected to compete at a high level throughout the entire upcoming season.
