Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown dropped by the studio of The Big Tigger Morning Show With Jazzy McBee, a V-103.3 FM radio show based in Atlanta, for a Sept. 2 interview.

During that talk, Brown, who was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, was asked if there’s “any chance” fans could see Brown in an Atlanta Hawks uniform someday (17:53 mark).

“You never know,” Brown said.

“…I feel you,” Brown added when show host Darian “Big Tigger” Morgan said he’d love to see him play for his hometown.

“I think my grandma would too…you never know, we’ll see.”

To be clear, Brown didn’t express any displeasure with his current situation with Boston. Rather, he was just answering a speculative question about the possibility of playing in Atlanta down the road.

In the meantime, Brown, who turns 29 on Oct. 28, is entering the second-year of a five-season, $285.4 million contract that runs through the 2028-29 campaign.

Brown has been exceptional during his nine seasons with the C’s and specifically during his last five. Since the 2020-21 campaign, Brown has averaged 24.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He’s also made four All-Star Games during that time and earned a spot on the 2022-23 All-NBA Second Team.

Brown also helped lead the 2023-24 Celtics to an NBA title, winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP awards.

This year, Brown and the Celtics have a tough challenge to navigate the season with superstar Jayson Tatum, who suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon during the playoffs against the New York Knicks last May and will miss most (if not all) of the 2025-26 season.

Brown is therefore thrust into the spotlight as the team’s clear No. 1 star and scoring option on a team that also parted ways with key team members in Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Kristaps Porziņģis. The C’s do retain some key talents otherwise, though, including Derrick White and Payton Pritchard, and they also added Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers.

We’ll see how this new Brown-led 2025-26 team works out soon enough when the C’s host the Philadelphia 76ers to begin the season on Oct. 22.
