The Wests Tigers have confirmed the re-signing of veteran hooker Apisai Koroisau, securing him until the end of the 2028 NRL season in a major boost to the club’s long-term vision.
After months of speculation about his future, the 32-year-old has signed a two-year contract extension, prolonging his commitment beyond 2026 and ensuring he will continue playing until at least age 35.
As club captain, Koroisau’s decision to stay is a vital boost for the Wests Tigers as they press ahead with their rebuild under head coach Benji Marshall.
In a year marked by instability both on and off the field, securing Koroisau’s re-signing was a clear priority for the Wests Tigers – choosing experience over emerging talent Tallyn Da Silva, who has since departed for the Parramatta Eels in search of greater first-grade opportunities.

The NRL veteran joined the Wests Tigers in 2023 following a successful stint at the Penrith Panthers, where he won back-to-back titles and established himself as one of the premier dummy-halves in the game.
“This club has become family to me. I’ve felt nothing but support from the players, staff, and especially Benji – he’s someone I really admire and enjoy playing under,” Koroisau stated in a club statement.
“I’m stoked to re-sign and can’t wait to help lead this team for a few more years.”
Coach Benji Marshall hailed the premiership-winning hooker’s recommitment as a defining moment for the club’s future.
“Api is a great player but more so he is the heart and soul of this team,” Marshall said.
“His leadership, experience and energy are invaluable. Having him commit to our future is massive for the direction we are heading in.
“We are thrilled to have him and his wonderful family here long term.”
