Fremantle forward Michael Frederick, defender Oscar McDonald and winger Jeremy Sharp have all signed contract extensions to remain at the Club.
Already contracted for 2026, Frederick has signed a three-year contract extension that will see him remain at Freo until at least the end of 2029.
The 25-year-old said Fremantle’s vision and strong sense of connection were things he firmly believed in.
“Being around the Club and seeing the turnover and what it’s become now – it’s a great place to be,” Frederick said.
“You’ve got guys like Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong, Hayden Young – these guys connect the group from the younger fellas to the older guys on the list.
“That connection piece has really driven me to want to stay, and I can see that we’re building something special.”
Frederick recorded career-best numbers in goals (30), marks (81), tackles (56), disposals (272) and games (24) in 2025, crediting the forward line’s connection and consistency as key contributors to his success.
“Each year you look to build on your game and develop a bit of consistency,” Frederick said.
“This year’s success came off the back of the connection we have with the boys in the forward line.
“If you look at it, it’s been a pretty even spread of goalkickers this year in our forward line.
“To have Vossy (Pat Voss), Brucey (Murphy Reid), and Bolts (Shai Bolton) up there with JT (Josh Treacy) and Jye (Amiss) – it shows that we really share the load and like to get each other involved. I think I was a beneficiary of that.
“The way we’ve evolved as a forward line, we’ve been able to have different faces come in, and they’ve been able to execute the same kinds of roles for whoever they’re replacing in the team – whether due to injury or whatever it might be. It’s been unreal.”
McDonald has signed a one-year extension through to the end of the 2026 season.
The 29-year-old says 2025 was one of the more rewarding years of his career.
“For them (the Club) to put faith in me … and extend for another year is fantastic,” McDonald said.
“I’ve loved my time here and I can’t wait for next year already.
“There has been ups and downs (in my career), but it’s all been worth it.
“I ran out in Round 1 last year and played – albeit I got injured – but to be able to come back and play seven games this year and play few games down at Peel – it’s been one of the more rewarding years.
“This year, every game I’ve played felt like I was making a debut… because every game means so much more because I’ve been through a lot of long-term injuries and you don’t know if you’re going to play again.”
One of the key elements to McDonald’s game has been his ability to swing forward and back, spending much of his time as a key pillar in defence in 2025 to fill the void of an injured Alex Pearce.
“We had a discussion at the start of pre-season with all coaches and it was a player -wide thing to be able to have flexibility within your game and have secondary roles,” McDonald said.
“Playing back when the skipper Moose (Pearce) went down… working with the backs there. I love playing with Coxy (Brennan Cox), Lukey (Luke Ryan) and all the other backs. It’s been fantastic.”
Sharp has signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain in purple until at least the end of the 2027.
The 24-year-old touched on his excitement to be involved with Fremantle’s young core, driven by the pursuit to improve and compete at the highest level.
“I’m super excited to be part of this great Club and I think we are building something pretty special here,” Sharp said.
“To be part of it for another two years is super special for myself and my family.
“The environment, the professionalism, the competitiveness we show every single day, I feel like when I come to work there is a growth mindset and we are genuinely getting better.
“We’re still such a young group and I think there is a lot to achieve in the next two years.”
Sharp explaining his desire to continue developing his game, touching on the brutal nature of a wing role as times.
“It’s very brutal (the wing), it’s demanding, it can be mentally draining as well… but if you can do your part for the team, it can be fun at the end of the day,” Sharp said.
“I’m excited to keep growing parts of my other game as well around the contest and being a bit stronger.
Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls says extending three players was a great result for the Club.
“Freddy has built on his game every year since being drafted in 2019,” Walls said.
“He’s had a great 2025 from an individual standpoint and plays a really important role within our forward line structure, so to have him extend his time for another three years is a great outcome.
“Oscar has demonstrated great maturity through adversity in his career, and for him to bounce back after a significant injury last year and come into the side and play different roles has been fantastic to see.
“Jeremy has gone to work ever since arriving at Fremantle last year and has shown some great development in his game.
“He has a great attitude and drive, and at just 24 years old, still has growth in his game.
“Extending all three players is a great outcome for the Club.”
