Hawthorn star Jack Ginnivan has been swarmed by cameras and media outlets upon touching down at Adelaide airport on Thursday.

The last time he was in South Australia, he gave Adelaide fans the middle finger on his way off the ground.

He labelled the gesture in the aftermath the “best coin spent”. He was later fined $1000.

He was then doorstopped at Adelaide airport by a Seven News reporter, who asked if he was a bad sport.

Ginnivan called her “embarrassing”, adding “do you think I am going to speak to you?”.

The interview was widely panned, with both the Hawk and the reporter called out for the awkward exchange.

Upon returning to that airport on Thursday, Ginnivan marched through with headphones on without saying a word.

Camera operators and journalists followed him through the airport in large numbers, though the 22-year-old gave them nothing in return.

The forward will be gearing up for his side’s semi final clash with the Crows and will almost certainly face a hostile reception from the Adelaide Oval crowd.

It’s the same crowd that was publicly condemned for booing Collingwood defender Isaac Quaynor over his links to the Izak Rankine homophobic slur suspension.

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell said on Wednesday that the club was expecting Ginnivan to cop the brunt of the hostility in South Australia.

“I can’t imagine he’s going to be welcomed with open arms, is he?,” Mitchell told reporters.

“We’re not concerned about the off-field thing. What’s great about Jack at the moment is everyone’s talking about what he’s doing on the field, he’s been in great form for us.

“We’ll try and protect him as best we can at the airport after what I’m sure is gonna be a challenging (environment).

“We’re gonna land and there’s gonna be people there and there’s gonna be people wanting to discuss but we’ve got a game to prepare for and that’ll be our clear focus, and I hope everyone respects that.”

Ginnivan starred for the Hawks in their elimination final win over GWS, kicking three goals.
