Pakistan vs Oman Live Score, Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan will launch their Asia Cup campaign against Oman in Dubai on Friday, with coach Mike Hesson urging his side to block out the noise ahead of Sunday’s high-profile clash against India.
Hesson, who took charge of the team earlier this year, stressed the importance of discipline. “I guess, from my perspective, just like any time you enter a match, whether it be a final of a world event or whatever, it’s about keeping everybody focused on the job at hand and that’ll be no different on the weekend,” he said.
Pakistan come into the tournament with momentum after winning a tri-series in the UAE involving Afghanistan and the hosts. Their strength has been their spin attack, with Mohammad Nawaz leading the way. The left-arm spinner, who picked up ten wickets in five matches during the tri-series, including a match-winning five-for in the final, was described by Hesson as “the best spin bowler in the world at the moment.”
Pakistan’s batting, however, remains a work in progress. Without Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the onus has shifted to Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub. “It is very much a developing batting lineup,” Hesson admitted. “There are a number of players who, on their day, can win you the game… we’re more interested in the sum of the parts as a batting group.”
Oman, meanwhile, will be eager to test themselves against one of the region’s heavyweights as they begin their campaign. The Group A fixture is expected to draw a lively crowd, with both teams eyeing an early boost in the race to the Super Four.
