Former English UFC star Molly McCann has officially begun the next chapter of her combat sports career after a phenomenal boxing debut.

Molly McCann Once Among Exciting Women’s Flyweights in MMA

Following her sudden retirement from the UFC this past march after a disappointing defeat to Alexia Thainara, Molly McCann’s future as a fighter appeared to have come to a conclusion. Joining the company in 2018, she quickly started to pick up steam in the 125-lb division with stellar wins over Priscila Cachoeira and Ariane Lipski da Silva in just the span of six months.

While back-to-back defeats to Talia Santos and Lara Fritzen did take the steam out of the England native’s sails, “Meatball” Molly McCann would leap into mainstream stardom with a spinning back elbow knockout over Luana Carolina, with many hailing the stoppage among the best in women’s mixed martial arts history.

Sadly, her success wound up being derailed entirely after a first-round submission setback to Erin Blanchfield. The Englishwoman never recovered from the loss, with Molly McCann going 1-3 in her next four contests, eventually putting her gloves down in the Octagon earlier this year. Although her exit from the organization came off the back of a lackluster late run, she did, however, preserve her reputation in the UFC as the female flyweight competitor with the most post-fight bonuses at three

Molly McCann Turns to Sweet Science of Boxing After MMA Career

For nearly six months, Molly McCann remained absent from all pugilistic activities inside the cage. However, for fans of the English, her comeback to fighting wouldn’t involve a caged structure at all. Instead, it would come in the form of the sweet science of boxing. Making the switch to the squared circle, it was announced that the previous UFC standout had signed with England-based promotion Matchroom Boxing MB in early July.

Molly McCann Makes Radomska Quit in Sixth Round

Making her freshman outing to the ring on September 13th, “Meatball” encountered Irish prospect Kate Radomska, who was then in the midst of a three-fight losing skid. Extending her opponent’s time in the losing column even further, England’s McCann decimated Radomska, overwhelming her with punches en route to a sixth-round finish after her fellow European’s corner threw in the towel.

Starting off the latest part of her saga in combat sports in stupendous fashion, McCann seems to have found her footing and then some in boxing, While it is unknown just how far the Englishwoman can push her ceiling in the discipline, one thing is for sure: “Meatball” is always must-watch television.
