[Week 2 schedule | NFL Week 2 live blog]
The Week 2 early afternoon slate is loaded with nine games, including Russell Wilson’s first trip to Dallas while leading the New York Giants.
While that got off to a very solid start for him — they took a 13-3 lead early, thanks in part to a 29-yard touchdown toss to Malik Nabers in the second quarter — the Cowboys finally rallied to make it a game. Dak Prescott found KaVontae Turpin for a 10-yard score just before halftime, and then Javonte Williams broke open a 30-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to give the Cowboys the lead for the first time all afternoon. Though it’s only Week 2 of the season, the game will carry significant NFC East weight, as the loser of the game will fall to 0-2 inside the division.

Outside of Dallas, there is also Ben Johnson’s first trip back to Detroit as Chicago’s head coach. The Lions have dominated this series recently, winning five of the last six meetings. Both teams enter this week hoping to avoid falling to 0-2 and occupying the NFC North cellar.
The other early afternoon games feature Jacksonville at Cincinnati, New England at Miami, San Francisco at New Orleans, Los Angeles [Rams] at Tennessee, Buffalo at New York [Jets], Seattle at Pittsburgh, and Cleveland at Baltimore.

Among the biggest news so far in the 1 p.m. game slate is an injury to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who exited Week 2’s contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars with what the team announced as a toe injury. Burrow took a sack for a five-yard loss from Jaguars DT Arik Armstead and was down for a bit as his ankle was examined in the second quarter.

Burow left the field and was helped to the locker room, limping heavily, with the assistance of two trainers. He was replaced by backup quarterback Jake Browning. The team officially deemed Burrow as questionable to return ahead of the third quarter, and Browning started at quarterback in the second half.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen also had an injury scare this week, exiting with a nose injury and being replaced briefly by backup Mitch Trubisky. He returned to the lineup several plays later, though, after being tended to on the sideline.
