“Flash” is built differently.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Jared Gordon suffered a brutal, bloody stoppage loss yesterday (Sat., Sept. 13, 2025) at Noche UFC 3, when Rafa Garcia stopped him with a punch followed by elbows inside Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas (watch highlights).
On fight night, Gordon entered the cage wearing a knee sleeve — something noticeably unusual for the 37-year-old veteran. That’s because something insane happened less than 24 hours earlier.
According to his close friend and former Welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, Gordon was hit by a car the day before his fight. The impact reportedly popped his knee, but instead of withdrawing from the bout, “Flash” chose to grit his teeth and compete anyway.
“Jared got hit by a car yesterday and popped his knee; he didn’t want to pull out and fought like a warrior,” Muhammad wrote on social media. “He’s tougher than nails.”
While Gordon’s toughness earned him plenty of praise online, others were frustrated given the circumstances, as he entered the fight as a heavy betting favorite; some fans felt blindsided that he stepped into the cage severely compromised, sparking a wave of heated debate about transparency and fighter safety in relation to sports gambling.
As for Gordon himself, he has yet to publicly comment on either the freak accident or the loss to Garcia, which halted his momentum at Lightweight. The setback snapped his one-fight winning streak and left him with a 2-2 record over his last four Octagon appearances.
