Nine Radio has rolled out a new audio sync feature across its 2GB, 4BC, 3AW and 6PR apps, giving fans the chance to match live game calls with the on-field or television action.
The upgrade arrives just in time for the footy finals and places Nine’s stations on par with rival network SEN, which has offered a similar option for the past two years.

The technology allows users to line up 3AW Football, 6PR Football and the Continuous Call Team commentary with live matches. Fans can select between in-stadium, free-to-air television or streaming feeds, then use an on-screen slider to delay the audio until it fits the play in front of them.
Listeners need the latest version of the station app, available via the App Store or Google Play, to use the new feature. Once streaming a live match, they can tap the Change Audio Sync icon and adjust the slider for the best fit with their viewing.

Tom Malone, Nine Radio Managing Director, said the update reflects the way audiences now consume sport.
“This new feature is the next step in providing our listeners the flexibility to consume our audio content, however, wherever and now alongside whatever other content they want.
Audio-sync fuses the unparalleled ‘live and local’ strength of our stations with technology that makes our content more accessible and engaging than ever before.”
Juliane Djidi, Product Manager Audio and Streaming, said the new option was developed with fans in mind.
“I am thrilled to launch Audio Sync! It’s incredibly rewarding to deliver a feature you know your users will love, and Audio Sync is a perfect example of this.
It brings our sports fans even closer to the action and provides them with a new way to enjoy our live commentary, no matter how they’re watching the game.”
Audio Sync is now available for listeners tuning into AFL and NRL finals coverage on 2GB, 4BC, 3AW and 6PR.
