WESTCHESTER, Ill. – It was a challenging day on the golf course for Louisiana Tech as the Bulldogs completed two rounds Monday in the Highlands Invitational.

The early start time (round one began at 7:20 a.m.) did not affect LA Tech as they shot 287 (-1) as a team through 18 holes with four Bulldogs shooting at or under par.  With the team in a tie for fifth going into round two, the greens firmed up, the pin locations got harder, and the wind picked up outside the ‘Windy City’ at the Chicago Highlands Club.

Scoring became a harder challenge for the ‘Dogs who shot 308 (+20).  With almost half the field not done due to play being stopped because of darkness, LA Tech finds itself in a tie for eighth going into round three on Tuesday.

Oskari Schuvalow continued his strong start to the season, shooting one under (71).  The junior was two under through seven holes, but then birdied four of his next seven holes to help finish in the red.

Morton Bailey also overcame a shaky start (three straight bogeys) to finish Even (72) as did teammates Riley Hnatyshyn and Seth Campbell who both shot 72 as well.

While the Bulldogs combined to card 16 birdies and one eagle in round one, birdies harder to come by in round two as were the big numbers.  Schuvalow and Bailey each led the way at three over (75) followed by Hnatyshyn (79) and Campbell (80).

Schuvalow heads into round three tied for 19th on the player leaderboard while Bailey is just outside the top 20 in a tied for 23rd.

Wake Forest, who finished last season ranked No. 36 in the country, holds a four-shot lead over host East Tennessee State at 17 under.
