Reclusive mining billionaire Angela Bennett has listed her $15 million West Perth penthouse for sale, offering a rare insight into her private life.

The 80-year-old is the daughter of Peter Wright, who along with Lang Hancock pioneered the discovery of valuable iron ore deposits in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, paving the way for the booming mining industry which dominates much of the state’s north-west.

The heiress and businesswoman earlier this year sold her family’s stake in Rio Tinto’s giant Rhodes Ridge iron ore project to a Japanese conglomerate, sending her wealth soaring from $5 billion to $8.41 billion, according to the Australian Financial Review’s 2025 Rich List.

ASIC records also reveal she has ended her role as a company director, leaving her sons Todd and Paul in control of the family businesses. The move has prompted speculation she is considering retirement.

Despite being one of the richest people in the country, Bennett maintains a low profile, with as few as two public photographs of her in existence.

In a rare public acknowledgement, last year she had a new women’s and children’s shelter in Northbridge named in her honour after she made a “significant contribution” to the facility.

Her four-bedroom West Perth penthouse was recently listed by Morgan & Hayes in Rossmoyne.

The 949-square-metre home spans two levels and includes panoramic views of the Swan River, Kings Park and the Perth city skyline.
