Paula Shaw, who played Pamela Voorhees in Freddy vs. Jason, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday after a lengthy illness. She was 84.
Although her time in Freddy vs. Jason was brief, Shaw’s role was integral to bringing the two horror icons together; Freddy uses the appearance of Mrs. Voorhees to manipulate Jason into resurrecting the nightmare on Elm Street.
Shaw’s other genre film credits include Communion, Savage Streets, Witchfire, and Chupacabra Terror.
On the small screen, she appeared in episodes of “Supernatural,” “The X-Files,” “iZombie,” “Van Helsing,” “The Outer Limits,” “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour,” “Day of the Dead,” “The New Addams Family,” and the 2002 revival of “The Twilight Zone.”
Her 50+ year acting career also saw her appear Insomnia, Reindeer Games, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and several Hallmark Channel holiday movies.
Her TV credits also include “Little House on the Prairie,” “Three’s Company,” “21 Jump Street,” “Starsky and Hutch,” “Barney Miller,” and “The Bob Newhart Show.”
Memorial gatherings will be held in Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Big Sur.
