The stage is set and the Cats are ready to go, confirming their team for Friday night’s blockbuster Preliminary Final against Hawthorn
Geelong has selected their team for Friday night’s big Preliminary Final clash, with the Cats remaining unchanged for their battle with Hawthorn.
The Cats have opted to take in the same team that cruised to a 38-point victory over Brisbane in the Qualifying Final, as they look to secure their third Grand Final berth in the last six years.
Connor O’Sullivan and Jhye Clark are set to play the second Finals match and the first Preliminary Final in their young AFL careers. At the other end of the spectrum, Patrick Dangerfield and Mark Blicavs will feature in their ninth Preliminary Final.
For Cats coach Chris Scott, it will be his 32nd Finals match at the helm and his 10th Preliminary Final in 15 years.
Geelong’s three emergencies will be Rhys Stanley, Jed Bews and Ollie Henry heading into Friday night.
One of the best modern rivalries will write a brand new chapter on Friday night, when Geelong and Hawthorn square off in a blockbuster Preliminary Final.
The winner will progress to the 2025 AFL Grand Final and will face the winner of the other Preliminary Final between Collingwood and Brisbane, while the loser will be eliminated from the Finals Series.

Friday’s Preliminary Final will be broadcast live and free on Channel 7 from 7.00pm AEST, ahead of the opening bounce at 7.40pm. Fox Footy and Kayo will also be broadcasting the game from 7.00pm.
