EAGLES’ HUGE OFFER FOR STARCEVICH
The West Coast Eagles are tabled Brandon Starcevich a mega deal worth up to six seasons in a bid to lure the premiership Lion back to Western Australia.
Perth journalist Ryan Daniels revealed West Coast’s massive offer to Starcevich, 26, whose contracted talks have dragged late into the season as Brisbane prepares to play in a fourth-straight preliminary final.
Starcevich is still weighing up his options, with Brisbane still “very keen” to retain the East Perth product.

As Starcevich is a restricted free agent, the Lions could theoretically match any offer he receives.
Signing Starcevich could also dilute West Coast’s free agency compensation for Oscar Allen, which is likely to be the No. 2 overall pick.
That could force the Eagles to acquire Starcevich via trade.
The reliable Lion was sidelined for two months earlier this year due to concussion.
TASMANIAN VFL LIFELINES LOOM FOR AXED PLAYERS
A Tasmanian VFL lifeline looms for a couple of delisted AFL players as the number of post-season cuts neared 50 this week.
Long-serving Gold Coast forward, Alex Sexton, who sits third on the club’s all-time goalkickers list, was among a trio of players cut by the Queensland club on Friday pushing the number of delisted players to 48 as the 2025 season surges to it’s climax.
Among those let go were Robbie Fox by Sydney and Jye Menzie from Essendon with the Devils, set to enter a team in the VFL in 2026 ahead of AFL entry in 2028, are interested in giving them a lifeline.
Fox last played AFL for the Swans in the 2024 Grand Final.

“Each of those players have their own complications. Robbie is still a chance to get picked up by the Giants, they’re showing some interest,” Tasmania’s head of list management, Todd Patterson told SEN.
“He’s got really strong commercial interests outside the game so it’s how we complement that.
“Someone like Jye, we’ve got a contract in front of him. He’s got to work through that process. He’s one of many (we’re keen on)
“So we’re just waiting for the phone to ring and get some good news.”
The Tasmanian enthusiasm for the delisted players comes as Richmond coach Adem Yze explained the Tigers’ contentious decision to move on defender Jacob Blight despite some impressive performances at AFL level in 2025.
“Blighty unfortunately was out of contract and he was a mid-season pick. Based on the draft hand we had last year and the players we brought in, we’re just stocked with a lot of key position players,” Yze said.
“He got tipped out and pushed out last year and couldn’t force his way back in unfortunately. Right now it’s just a balance of who we’ve got on our list and who was out of contract and unfortunately he was the guy that missed out.
“I think he might get another opportunity at another team.”
Clubs will continue to cut players, with GWS having only so far announced one exit, outside the retirement of veteran Lachlan Keeffe.
Despite not making the finals, the Western Bulldogs have also not made any player moves while the club’s VFL pushes for a premiership.
