JAY Robotham is set to return to the track, and also his motorsport roots, when he lines up at next weekend’s aptly titled World Excel Enduro at Queensland Raceway.
His only race start of significance this year came when he raced an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 for Volante Rosso Motorsport in the Bathurst 12 Hour, impressing with his pace alongside imports Jamie Day and Mateo Villagomez.
Last year, the Victorian balanced various domestic driving duties alongside a GT program in Asia and a Thailand-centric Utes series, as well as starts in an Asian-based MARC Mustang.
Since he made his debut in the Excel class in 2016, he has been a consistent starter in the category across the country.
For the Queensland Raceway meet, Robotham will once again line up alongside BPRO team principal Brett Parrish in a four-car lineup, with the combo looking to reprise their victory from the 2019 running of the event.
Parrish, in fact, was one of the original drivers from the category’s inaugural race, which was held at Lakeside Park in 2010.
The enduro typically draws a strong field of name drivers, with Bradi Owen also throwing his hat into the ring, with the Super2 driver set to line up alongside Will McSwan.
Owen is another former winner of the event, having claimed victory in 2022 alongside Declan Fraser, who is down to race alongside Karlai Warner.
Other notable winners of the QR Excel Enduro, which dates back to 2014, include Broc Feeney and Nash Morris, who are both two-time victors, plus Aaron Cameron, Alice Buckley and Ryan Casha.
