First Lady of the United States Melania Trump joined Catherine, Princess of Wales for a day out with young Scouts in the gardens of Frogmore House at the Windsor estate in what was their first official solo engagement.
The outing came during Melania and her husband US president Donald Trump’s official visit to the UK.
Melania and Catherine spent the day enjoying games and snacks with twenty children from the Scouts program one of whom had a particular “unfiltered” question for Trump.

One of the children asked the First Lady: “Are you the next princess?”
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields, who joined Melania, Catherine and the young Scouts for the official engagement, told People that the innocent question “gives an idea of how little they knew about the situation”.
“But the beauty of being with young people is they’re unfiltered, they’ll say what they think and ask questions,” he added.

“And if you encourage them, and encourage them to be confident and grow, you’ll end up with some really strong, daring, young people who will be willing to try new things and stand up and have this strong sense of self.”

Fields added that the two women were “amazingly warm” with each other and “gave so much of themselves” during the event.
“It is easy for the young people to be overwhelmed, but they were settled and calm and enjoyed the day,” he told the publication.

Catherine has been joint patron of the Scouts since 2020 and in April made a surprise appearance in a film for the movement to highlight the importance of spending time in nature.
It was one of Catherine’s first few engagements of the year following her remission from cancer.
Catherine and Melania’s day out came after the Trumps were hosted at the royal family’s state banquet at Windsor Castle.
The banquet boasted a 160-strong high profile guest list including King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Catherine, Prince William, Princess Anne, media mogul Rupert Murdoch and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Tiffany Trump was also in attendance at the banquet in honour of her father.
