Jamie Elliott took “one of the great finals marks” with an epic specky in the third quarter of the preliminary final between Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions at the MCG.

After the Lions kicked four straight goals to start the second half, Elliott halted the reigning premier’s charge with an unbelievable mark in the goal square at the City End.

The Magpie Army behind the goals gave Elliott a standing ovation as he created one of the best finals highlights in recent memory with his soaring mark over Lions defender Brandon Starcevich.

Elliott’s teammate Beau McCreery kicked the high ball to the goal square that gave Elliott a canvas to work his magic on, and the Fox Footy commentary team were stunned by what they witnessed.

“One of the great finals marks,” Fox Footy’s Mark Howard screamed on commentary.

“Roll the replays! Every angle you’ve got because that is an absolute specky!”

As the replays were shown over and over again, two-time North Melbourne premiership player David King was in awe, saying “he just says that’s my ball!”.

“He just stepped off the back of Starcevich, found the back position and as soon as Jamie Elliott’s behind you, you’ve got to be worried that he’s going to sit on your head,” three-time premiership Richmond player Jack Riewoldt added.

“The balance in the air, even with his legs taken out. It’s still just to hold it all the way to ground, that is a great finals specky.”

Riewoldt then called on the AFL to amend its rule as a mark taken during the finals series cannot win Mark of the Year.

“Unfortunately, you can’t take Mark of the Year in finals,” Howard said.

“Change the rules!” Riewoldt responded.

For the record, Elliott also went back and converted his set shot for his second goal of the game.

For Starcevich, he must have had flashbacks to Bobby Hill’s incredible specky over him in the 2023 Grand Final.
