What a time to be alive! The One UI 8 stable rollout hasn’t reached most eligible devices yet, and here we are already talking about One UI 8.5, which isn’t expected anytime sooner. A leaked One UI 8.5 build has given us a sneak peek at the nitty-gritty of what Galaxy S26 series might offer right out of the box.
Leaked One UI 8.5 build suggests Galaxy S26 Ultra’s privacy screen feature
As such, it also includes references to the much-anticipated Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, according to Android Authority. Previous reports suggested it will rely on Samsung’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, which adjusts the viewing angles of the screen using AI. This allows the display to remain readable only to the person directly in front of it, effectively preventing shoulder surfing in crowded environments.

The One UI 8.5 build refers to the feature as Private Display or Privacy Display. Moreover, the strings suggest it will have two modes: a Maximum Privacy mode, which dims the screen for extra protection, and Manual Settings, which likely offer more granular control. Custom conditions could allow users to activate Private Display for specific apps, such as banking or messaging applications, or according to a set schedule.
We assume this will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but that does not rule out the possibility that Samsung could make it available across the lineup. After all, the Pro model should come with something Pro-worthy. For now, this is what the code reveals, and we can expect to hear more in the coming weeks.
What we know for sure is that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S26 series running One UI 8.5. We have also exclusively uncovered a bunch of features slated to arrive with the launch of the series. Given that there is still time and this is based on a leaked build, we can expect more features and changes before the official launch.
